Opening Statement from the CEO of the Food Safety and Growers’ Association of Kenya (FSGAK)
The Food Safety and Growers’ Association of Kenya (FSGAK) is delighted to present this inaugural statement as a vital tool to assist our esteemed members in enhancing the competitiveness of our organization. Our vision is to ensure the safe pre- and post-production of food for both local and international markets.
Our industry faces many challenges, particularly in developing new markets and repositioning ourselves as a global leader and the preferred choice for sustainable sourcing of cost-effective, safe, and reliable fresh produce. To address these challenges, FSGAK is committed to outlining the necessary measures to protect industry workers, strengthen food safety, improve hygiene and sanitation practices among traders and food business operators, and enhance industry practices to ensure compliance with measures addressing sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) risks. These steps are essential pre-conditions for the successful export of food and agricultural commodities.
The implementation of our objectives requires close collaboration and support from all stakeholders, including government entities, the private sector, and development partners. Together, we can achieve our goals and secure a sustainable and prosperous future for the food safety and growers' industry in Kenya.
